Ground use only.
The Thaw Aviation tank is a ground-use accessory. It is not a certified ice protection system, has no STC, and is not approved by the FAA or any other aviation authority. Never use it in flight, to enter icing conditions, or as a substitute for an approved de-icing or anti-icing system.
Approved fluids only.
Use only TKS Type I or Type IV fluid, and only if your aircraft manufacturer permits it for your aircraft. Never use any other fluid, including automotive antifreeze, windshield washer fluid, or fluids not approved for aircraft use. Follow the fluid manufacturer’s instructions and Safety Data Sheet.
Do not spray anything that shouldn’t see fluid.
Keep fluid away from pitot tubes, static ports, angle-of-attack and temperature probes, sensors, engine and cabin air inlets, vents, brakes, tires, propeller hubs, electrical connections, and any surface or component your aircraft manufacturer says must stay free of fluid. If you’re not sure whether a surface can be sprayed, don’t spray it.
Never spray people, animals, or eyes.
Aim only at an aircraft. Fluid in the eyes, on skin, or swallowed can cause injury. Seek medical attention if exposed and follow the Safety Data Sheet.
Hot, pressurized, and electrical.
The tank contains heated fluid and operates under pressure, and it includes a 120V electric heater. Keep the tank upright when heating, never run the heater empty or low on fluid, never exceed the fluid’s temperature limit, and never leave it plugged in unattended. Use a GFCI-protected outlet, and keep it away from fuel and flammable vapors. Release pressure before opening the cap. Do not tamper with or block the relief valve.
The pilot is responsible.
Using this product is at the pilot’s discretion. The pilot in command is solely responsible for confirming that the aircraft is free of frost, ice, and snow before flight, and for deciding whether it is safe to fly. A full preflight inspection is required after use.
Follow the instructions.
Every tank ships with operating instructions and a step-by-step checklist. By buying or using this product, you agree to read them before first use and to follow them every time, including the checklist for filling, heating, pressurizing, spraying, and storing the tank. Do not use the tank if you have not read the instructions or do not agree to follow them.
Assumption of risk.
Misuse can cause serious injury, property damage, or damage to your aircraft. By using this product, you accept all risks of its use and agree to follow all instructions and warnings.
